A Media Evening!
After the huge success of our first event for the year, 'Old Time Music
Hall' (watch the video at www.rivieralife.tv) and true to our promise of
offering varied events to cater to every taste, The International Club of
the Riviera have pleasure in presenting our next event, in association
with and hosted by the International School of Nice, 'A 'Media Evening'
on Thursday 4th March 6.45 pm at No. 15 Avenue Claude Debussy, 06200 Nice.
We're expecting an evening of interesting and vigorous debate as the theme
"How does online self-publishing affect traditional local media?" is
discussed. The expert panel, drawn from key members of the local media
scene, runs the gamut from pure online "self-publishers" to senior
representatives from pretty pure "traditional" print organizations
(bearing in mind that everyone has a website now!).
The discussions will be moderated by Mike Hardaker, co-founder of
AngloINFO.
The rise of the Internet offered the promise that everyone could be a
publisher or broadcaster - by removing a traditional barrier to entry
(high cost), everyone who wanted could take on the media at their own
game. It took a while, but that is actually starting to happen - from
blogs, Facebook postings and "tweets" on Twitter to more obviously
businesslike online media operations, self-publishers on the Internet are
becoming, according to many, an increasingly viable alternative to
traditional media sources - or are they really a complement, not a
replacement?
A look at how online self-publishing impacts traditional local media, with
specific reference to the French Riviera and Monaco.
The Panel discussion will be followed by a sumptuous buffet dinner with
the compliments of Curry&Spice!
Our hosts the International School of Nice will also present a short
musical item and & projection during the evening.
The International Club of the Riviera will host welcome cocktails to start
the ball rolling in what promises to be a perfect fusion evening!
